Florida for the win again! Prosecuting unlicensed roofers.
That new website was a shock and curious how many people they have manning it. They offer to look at your contract and give the homeowners a letter to mail to the roofer if they decide to back out.
Everyone pay attention: this is how they will help change the market and enforce the new “good faith estimate” laws.
They will then have a data base on each contractor to help prevent AOB fraud.
I do think Roofers should be able to add the hurricane straps.
We are already there. Taking off the plywood.
Funny thing was, this was part of our CE credits this year for hurricane strapping.
As long as the roofer isn’t changing the truss cords or alternating the structure this would be an easier and more affordable option to the homeowners.
Now there needs to be a specific permit for this that is separate from the roofing permit though. This way you can track this back to the original roofer that installed them so you can subrogate the roofer if they did not install them to code.
